Google's AI chatbot Gemini has received a new feature that makes interacting with the language model more personalized. By storing user preferences, Gemini can generate more individualized responses and recommendations. However, this feature is currently exclusively available for paying users of Gemini Advanced and Google One AI Premium.
At the beginning of 2023, Google launched its AI chatbot Gemini, which is in direct competition with ChatGPT. After initial challenges, particularly with integration into Google Search, Gemini has now established itself and is available in over 40 languages.
The new feature allows Gemini to remember the individual preferences and interests of users. Users can, for example, tell the chatbot whether they are vegetarian, have food intolerances, or what their profession is. Gemini then takes this information into account when outputting results and can, for example, suggest suitable vegetarian recipes.
The stored preferences can be viewed and edited by users at any time in the settings under the menu item "Saved Information". Google had already announced this feature a few weeks ago to facilitate the integration of Gemini into users' everyday lives.
Access to this personalization feature, however, remains reserved for subscribers of Gemini Advanced and Google One AI Premium. For a monthly fee of almost 22 euros, users receive access to the more powerful AI model Gemini 1.5 Pro in addition to the personalized use of Gemini.
According to Google, the feature is still in the early stages of rollout and is initially only available in English. If the corresponding settings cannot be found in the Gemini app, Google recommends using the web app in a browser.
In addition to personalization, Google is continuously working on further improvements for Gemini. Recently, a feature was introduced that allows making calls and writing messages via Gemini, even when the smartphone screen is locked. This feature is initially only available for Android devices and requires activation in the Gemini app settings.
